To be completely honest, i am kinda making it hard for myself to narrow down to only 3 must DO things in London during the festive season. The City is so full of sparkle, colour and joyfulness that it becomes really hard to pick just a few. However, whilst drafting this post i kept in mind people who may visit the capital just for a couple of days with not much time on their hands, or busy locals who can’t spare all their free time wandering around the city.
So here you go, my three very much loved places / things to do in London during Christmas season.
1. Ice skating. Ta-da! Most magical skating experience ever- Natural History Museum Ice rink. This area is beautiful all year round, but it gets that little extra sparkle during the colder season. Even if you do not fancy to skate with a bunch of other tourists it is worth just to come and witness the beauty of it all.
For a second and not so busy option- beautiful Tower of London Ice rink.
2. Christmas markets. As you can see i am slightly cheating here. When it comes to Christmas markets, London really has a lot to offer. For foodies- i suggest having a nose in Southbank. It has lovely food stalls, festive music and great outdoors-indoors space where you can enjoy a cup of hot cider or mulled wine. + a bonus is the incredible view of the city.
If you prefer more activity focused markets rather than just food you would probably have to visit Winter Wonderland. All in one area; places to eat, carousels and rides, ice skating, Christmas souvenirs and more. It’s like a little magical place inside one of London’s famous parks- Hyde Park.
3. Christmas lights & festive streets. If you wish to see Christmassy London at it’s best, i would highly advise to check out these streets. Every year the city pulls something more and more magical.
*Regent’s, Oxford & Bond streets. Beautiful path with tuns of Christmas lights and festive decorations.
*Carnaby street & Liberty. Running away from very busy streets you will find not so wide allies blooming in colourful decorations.
*Covent Garden. Pebble streets and Apple Market piazza with a giant Christmas tree in the middle. + Busking singers makes it such a lovely atmosphere.
*Old Bond street & Burlington Arcade – have a look at some designer shops and their artsy window displays for the holidays.
*Harrods -shopping centre famous for its gorgeous architecture. Looks extremely festive in the night time.
Enjoy your festive time in London
Much love ♡
